The Partnership Between Humans and Dogs.

This bond likely began over 14,000 years ago and was likely originally based on a human need for help with herding and hunting, for an early alarm system, and for a source of food in addition to the companionship many of us today know and love.  What’s in it for the dog?  Well, in return, they received companionship, protection, shelter, and a reliable food source.

The earliest confirmed domestic dog anywhere thus far is from a burial site in Germany called Bonn-Oberkassel which has joint human and dog interments dated to 14,000 years ago.  Experts now agree that most of the dog breeds we see today are recent developments.  However, the amazing variation in dogs is a relic of their ancient and varied domestication processes.

One thing we can all agree on is that we are very fortunate to have one of America’s best dog trainers right here in Las Vegas.  He is Dennis Danskin.  With all due respect to Cesar Millan…when he whispers dogs listen!  If the holidays bring a new four legged resident call Dennis at (702) 327-4744 and get your extended family off on the right foot.

A Plan for Man (Women and children too!) this Holiday Season.

Children are in your household and they are asking that magical question this time of year…when are we going to get a puppy?  Just remember during this euphoric time of year that raising a puppy when you work full time is a difficult task. It involves planning ahead, great routines and some outside help.

Puppies spend a great deal of time playing, chewing and investigating objects throughout your home.  All of these normal activities involve puppies using their mouths and their needle-sharp teeth.  When puppies play with people, they often nibble, chew and mouth on people’s hands, limbs and clothing.  That may be cute for a minute, but that’s all!

Bring Las Vegas puppy trainer Dennis Danskin into the picture.  All you have to do is pick out the perfect best friend for your family, then call him for a complimentary in-home visit.  Dennis has been training puppies and adult dogs for decades so that the behavior you seek is the behavior you will get.  Call Dennis.  You will be amazed at his prowess (702) 327-4744.

Eliminating Territorial Aggression.

We all protect our ground as mammals at the top of the food chain.  When your dog exhibits territorial aggression toward people and other animals you may find it to be unacceptable.  Generally speaking, people and other animals that are unusual and less familiar to your best friend, are the most likely to trigger aggressive behavior.

While most forms of territorial aggression are likely to occur on your property, some dogs may protect the areas where they are temporarily housed, and they may even protect family members regardless of the location.  On the surface it is comforting unless and until they display violent behavior toward people you have welcomed into your “territory”.

This is the point at which aggressive behavior must be contained or you may actually lose your best friend!  Curbing that aggression is just a phone call away with Las Vegas professional dog trainer and behaviorist Dennis Danskin.  Dennis may very well become your second-best friend.  He’ll make a complimentary visit to your home by calling (702) 327-4744.

Think Like a Dog.

Strange advice unless you intend to have that four-legged best friend live with you in harmony for the next 15 years.  Did you ever think that dog mistakes are really human mistakes?  Many dog owners make mistakes because they read something somewhere, or this is what seemed to work for the family dog when they were kids.

Here are some dog training pitfalls you need to avoid –

1.  Calling them nicely, then punishing them when they come
2.  Sticking your dog’s nose in its own mess
3.  Thinking your dog will just “grow out of it”
4.  Using pain in the process of training
5.  Taking your dog back inside immediately after he eliminates

That last one surprises some people, but the logic is that your best friend thinks his time outside is over the second he goes.  Treating your four-legged child with love and respect is not that hard especially when you call on the services of Las Vegas humane trainer Dennis Danskin.  Dennis will show you just what to do…in your own home!  Call him today at (702) 327-4744.

It’s Not Too Early.

So, you waited until the kids were back in school and the weather moderated to get that beautiful new addition to your home.  The belief that pups should not be trained until they are at least six months to one year of age is not true.  All dogs can benefit from obedience training as early as seven weeks.  By six months of age, almost all behavior problems are already in place.

Here are some things to remember –

1.  Preventing behavioral problems are a lot easier than solving them.
2.  Puppies may nip at babies, so keep them apart for a while.
3.  Do not play aggressively with a puppy.
4.  Always treat your puppy as a sensitive, living thing with needs and desires.

One more thing to remember…call (702) 327-4744.  That is the number of Las Vegas premier puppy trainer, Dennis Danskin.  No matter how much you THINK you know about training puppies you simply do not know as much as Dennis and his 40 plus years of experience!  Remember that number again (702) 327-4744.  That’s Dennis Danskin.

The Difference Between Dog Sitting and Dog Boarding.

This is not my area of expertise, but I wanted you to know some differences between the two after you have honored me by allowing me to train your dog.  Years ago, dog boarding was your only option.  Dog boarding is like taking your dog to a hotel, except all the guests are pets!  On the other hand, there’s pet sitting.  Typically, a pet sitter will stay at your home while you’re away or stop by to care for your pets once or twice per day.

Boarding is probably the best option if your pet is a youngster.  You’ll rest easier knowing he’s getting plenty of potty breaks, attention, and social time needed to keep him happy and stimulated.  Do you have multiple dogs?  Then dog sitting may be the right choice.  Dogs who have a companion or two won’t feel as lonely as they would if they’re the only pet.

My name is Dennis Danskin of Las Vegas and I care so very much for the life of your dog long after I have properly trained it in the comfortable surroundings of your home.  If you have questions even years after the training sessions, please feel free to call me anytime.  My phone number is (702) 327-4744.

Can I Trust that Man with My Best Friend?

It’s a question you may have asked before hiring a dog trainer.  I don’t blame you at all.  This is your baby we are talking about and you need your best friend to be better from the experience of learned behavior rather than worse.  That is why I pledge a couple of things…I will train your puppy in the comfort of your own home and I have plenty of great references.

Let me just share one of those with you and then I will tell you where you can read plenty more of them.  Merrie who lives here in Las Vegas said of me…”I then decided to go online to find in home dog training and as luck would have it stumbled upon Dennis Danskin.  He was INCREDIBLY thorough and knowledgeable”!

Now, one testimonial does not a dog trainer make (even after 50 years of doing it).  So, please visit trainhumane.net on the web and read just some of the myriad of testimonials I have received.  Then, call me and I will come to your home for a complimentary visit with your 4-legged pride and joy.  I am Dennis Danskin serving the Las Vegas area at (702) 327-4744.

Treats May not be Necessary.

This may apply to your kids as well, but it is also true with your four-legged kid.  I want you to develop a healthy relationship with your dog.  Giving it treats all the time may not be the best way to promote health and longevity for your puppy.  Many people think that treat training is the one and only alternative.

However, using treats to keep her or him from barking at other dogs, fixating on those juicy-looking squirrels and birds or lunging at vehicles does not work with treats!  A professional trainer will help, and introduce you to training without treats, which is extremely successful for nearly all dog owners.

I believe in training without treats.  It is called positive reinforcement training.  Believe me, positive words and gestures are so much better than the constant expectation of caloric treats.  Allow me to demonstrate.  I am Dennis Danskin.  Call me if you live anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley for a complimentary in-home visit at (702) 327-4744.

You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks.

Baloney I say!  The phrase dates back to the early 1500’s.  Perhaps near the end of summer you have adopted a middle-age or older dog from one of the Las Vegas shelters.  First of all, you are automatically eligible for sainthood.  Beyond that, you want the rest of your new companion’s life to be as fulfilling as possible.

The list of possible behavioral patterns are many and varied.  Since you don’t know anything about your new best friend’s previous lives you have to undertake the assumption that you are starting from scratch.  What do you want him (or her) to do?  The act of sitting and staying while remaining calm are among them.

How about giving me a call and I will do a free in-home assessment of where your dog is on this scale.  Then I can begin teaching him the patterns you would like to see over the next several years.  It’s a win-win for canine and human!  My name is Dennis Danskin a 40 plus year veteran of the dog training world.  If you live in the Las Vegas area, call me at (702) 327-4744.
