This bond likely began over 14,000 years ago and was likely
originally based on a human need for help with herding and hunting, for an
early alarm system, and for a source of food in addition to the companionship
many of us today know and love. What’s
in it for the dog? Well, in return, they
received companionship, protection, shelter, and a reliable food source.
The earliest confirmed domestic dog anywhere thus far is
from a burial site in Germany called Bonn-Oberkassel which has joint human and
dog interments dated to 14,000 years ago.
Experts now agree that most of the dog breeds we see today are recent
developments. However, the amazing
variation in dogs is a relic of their ancient and varied domestication
processes.
One thing we can all agree on is that we are very fortunate
to have one of America’s best dog trainers right here in Las Vegas. He is Dennis Danskin. With all due respect to Cesar Millan…when he
whispers dogs listen! If the holidays
bring a new four legged resident call Dennis at (702) 327-4744 and get your
extended family off on the right foot.
