Are Two Dogs Better than One?

It is a complicated question.  Depending on whom you ask you may get a different response.  You could start with one basic premise.  Two females are often (but not always) a bad mix.  Believe it or not, two females will tend to fight viciously with each other even more than two males.  Now there’s a hierarchy with which humans may not be familiar!

Adding a new puppy to the household with a dog that may have established its territory for a decade or more can be tricky.  Here are some steps you can take immediately –

1.  Put away the older dog’s chew toys
2.  Have places in your home where the two can get away from each other for a minute
3.  Have separate food dishes
4.  Make sure that all of your furry friends are up-to-date with their shots

Next, call Dennis Danskin.  That’s right, The Las Vegas area’s premier dog and puppy trainer.  He has seen every possible canine combination in his half century of dog training.  If you have more than one dog in your household make sure that you call in Dennis for a seamless transition.  Anywhere in the Las Vegas NV area just call (702) 327-4744.

Don’t Criticize…Embrace!

You might be fascinated with an online survey by Kelton Research, involving about 1000 people.  It indicates that the status of dogs as family members is changing.  It appears that in the minds of the Americans who responded to the survey, dogs are becoming more important as family members, particularly as children.

For example, more than four out of five of those surveyed consider their dogs to be true family members, equal in status to children.  It appears that dogs have become such an important part of the family that 54% of Americans now consider themselves to be “parents” rather than “owners”.  It seems to occur the moment that the dog joins the family.

Here is what COULD happen in your household.  You adopt a four-legged child, then you let it rule the household by not having him or her properly trained.  They don’t come with an instruction manual, but there is Dennis Danskin.  Dennis is one of the nation’s premier dog trainers and he is right here in Las Vegas.  Call him today for a free no-obligation in-home visit at (702) 327-4744.

Is It Time to Meet Your Match?

No, this is not a dating site, it is about finding your best friend.  Now that spring has sprung in the Las Vegas area and the kids will be on vacation next month you may be thinking about adding a four-legged best friend to your household.  Your trek may well begin with visits to our area animal shelters.  How do you accomplish this task with so much riding on it?

Here are some tips –

1.  Start by observing the dog in its kennel from a distance.
2.  Now, walk up to the kennel and stand sideways in a very non-threatening posture.
3.  Then, calmly turn and face your boy or girl.
4.  Kneel down and talk happily to them.
5.  See if you can take the dog into a separate area and sit on a chair in the middle.
6.  Look for simple signs of training such as sit, stay, give paw, etc.

That leads us to the next point.  If you have found that perfect match at the kennel you can be sure that the work is not done yet.  The next, and most important step is to call Dennis Danskin for a free no-obligation in-home visit.  Dennis is Las Vegas’ premier dog trainer.  He will turn your newly adopted furry find into your best friend.  Call him anytime at (702) 327-4744.

In Spring Our Thoughts Turn to a New Puppy.

There is never a bad time to rescue a dog from one of our animal shelters.  Whatever your timing the bottom line is…you are saving a life!  If you just adopted a dog from a shelter or rescue group, congratulations!  Dogs who are adopted from a shelter or animal rescue can make wonderful pets.  Believe me, I know.

Wait a moment.  Before you left the rescue center, did you get an instruction manual?  You did when you got your refrigerator, your car, your water heater, etc.  As you well know, that new addition to your home does NOT come with one.  It’s the same as a new human arrival only this four-legged variety has already developed some bad habits.

That is why I live in Las Vegas.  It is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States and I love it.  There are so many wonderful opportunities this Spring to rescue a wonderful new best friend.  Let me help with the difficult part…the training.  I am Dennis Danskin, the Las Vegas area’s premier dog trainer.  Give me a call at (702) 327-4744.

Obedience as a Means to an End.

Most dog trainers nationwide teach heel, sit, and stay and believe this is a conduit to overcoming behavioral problems.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I like to call it the earned respect factor.  I build on that in your home and tackle the most common behavioral problems in dogs.  More than 9 out of 10 shelter dogs have NEVER had ANY obedience training!

Here are a few of the most common –

1.  Going to the bathroom where they shouldn’t.  You don’t remember your diaper days.
2.  Jumping excessively.  That could be cause by a lack of stimulation or boredom.
3.  Excessive barking…annoying for everybody.

I will tackle them all and many more, then show you how to maintain harmony in the household.  My name is Dennis Danskin.  I have been known as one of the leading dog trainers anywhere, but proud to serve the Las Vegas Valley.  Tap into my half-century of experience by calling me for a complimentary in-home visit at (702) 327-4744.
