Dogs and Ice Hockey…Two Las Vegas Passions.

Rescuing a new best friend for the holiday has long been a pastime of many Las Vegas residents.  With the inception of the Golden Knights, hockey has become a new local passion.  Now, the two have combined to captivate us here in the valley.  Meet Benny, a 5 year old Golden Retriever rescue who loves to ice skate!

You can Google Las Vegas rescue dog learns to ice skate to see Benny do his thing on the frozen pond.  The warmth you will feel in watching this video might well melt the ice itself.  It is just another of the thousands of stories on how rescue canines have been given a forever home by Las Vegas residents and become a family’s best friend.

If it is your plan to add a new addition to your Las Vegas area home by visiting one of our local animal shelters I hope that you will make me your next call.  I am Dennis Danskin.  Using my half-century of humane dog training methods, I will turn your new companion into a valued member of the household.  Just give me a call, Dennis Danskin at (702) 327-4744.

The Health Benefits of Owning a Well-Trained Dog.

You have heard of the studies that show a well-behaved four-legged child in your home decreases stress, increases fitness (for both parties), and just puts a smile on your face in general (don’t believe anyone who says that your dog DOES NOT smile).  There is even a direct result in lower blood pressure and cholesterol in the two-legged family members!

Now the converse.  A dog that bites strangers, does not properly socialize with family members in the home and has an aversion to other pets is a hazard to your overall health.  That bond between you and your beloved best friend is sacrosanct and you want to do whatever you can to promote harmony in the house.

Enter Dennis Danskin.  It must be working for him.  He has trained dogs in the Las Vegas area for over 50 years and he seems to be holding up very well, thank you!  The truth is, Dennis will turn your terrified new addition to your family into the best component of the household.  Call him today for a FREE in-home consultation at (702) 327-4744.

Start ‘Em Young!

Oh, how true that is.  If you start training a puppy from the get-go you will not only ensure greater success, but you will get the maximum joy out of the next dozen plus years.  That does NOT mean that an old dog can’t be taught new tricks…look at Tiger Woods!  The truth is, if you have a puppy under 6 months old let’s get to it.

Just weeks ago, your new four-legged child was jumping and playing with its peers.  You know that’s true…puppies come with same-age siblings and the behavior that they displayed just weeks ago is simply no longer acceptable.  They were born to live in your forever home.  You will be doing them an enormous favor by teaching them the ways of your household.

To achieve that beautiful balance, it is important to seek the advice and methods of a professional puppy trainer.  If you live in the Las Vegas Valley you should know the name Dennis Danskin.  He has been training our area’s dogs and puppies for over five decades.  Please call him for a free in-home visit at (702) 327-4744.

Accentuating the Positive.

NO, NO, and NO.  How many times have we used that word in our lifetimes?  Chances are, we have uttered it more often than YES.  Positive reinforcement vs. negative reinforcement.  It is an ongoing discussion in the workplace, child rearing, personal growth, and in the world of dog training as well.

One example of negative reinforcement is when the dog’s bottom is pushed to force it into the sitting position.  Another example of negative reinforcement is often used when working with a dog that is afraid of things such as other dogs.  Negative reinforcement comes with risk.  One 2014 study shows that dogs trained in this manner are 3 times more likely to display aggression among family members!

Come on now, you really don’t want that for the next dozen years or so, do you?  Dennis Danskin, a nationally renowned humane dog trainer right here in Las Vegas practices positive NOT negative reinforcement.  Please visit his website at www.trainhumane.net.  Then give him a call for a complimentary in-home visit at (702) 327-4744.
