It is a critical question and not one to take for granted. It is very important to integrate the two through positive reinforcement. All family members should be trusted, loyal companions. 1.  Teach the toddlers the name of the new family member.

2.  The new dog is a living being, NOT a stuffed toy.

3.  Involve the kids in different aspects of the humane training process.

4.  Make sure that everyone in the household is on board with my methods.
